Many believe that it is more difficult to get cheap vacations for families, but if you research you can find some great money saving offers. Try these tips to keep costs down.

For immediate gratification, here's the summary of these tips, plus a few of my own:
  1. Watch out for package tours. Some packages give free travel and accommodation for children.
  2. Book early. You can negotiate a lot when you book early. By simply having the time to compare different promos, agents will run after you, instead of the other way around.
  3. Take middle of the week breaks, instead of weekends. If you're creative, you can find a way around work or business to do this.
  4. Fly a week before or a week after the holiday. Smart move for you. Avoid the rush and the cramped departure areas by simply avoiding the crowd. You also avoid lots of expensive costs this way.
  5. Travel outside of school holidays. Yeah, why not? You want a family vacation, right? You only need your spouse/partner and kids for that to happen. So take it outside of school holidays.
Here's a few of my own:
  1. Always, always, always study the destination. Talk to people who've been there and ask for tips on where to get the best bargains.
  2. Travel light. Some families may find it shocking that they're charged for extra weight they did not intentionally bring.
  3. A lot of local transport do not have a fixed price. Agree on the price with the local transport first before telling your kids to rush to their seats. Never, never, never negotiate for the price after you took the ride.
  4. Dress simply. When you dress simply, you not only minimize the chances of getting into the radar of snatchers, you can also negotiate more strongly.
  5. Talk simply. It doesn't pay to talk Hollywood style when you're in vacation. Use plain language. People sometimes "smell" the money in your wallet by the way you speak.
Have a great vacation!
